The top two stories on Domain Name Wire last month were about lawsuits, one involving WordPress and one that could result in a reverse domain name hijacking complaint. Here's a look back at the past month in the domain name business. 1. WordPress Foundation sues owner of WordPress domain names - WordPress forbids using the WordPress mark in a domain name. It filed a lawsuit against the owner of a number of WordPress domains. 2. Cybersquatting lawsuit filed over domain name registered 16 years before plaintiff's use - a new company wants a domain name registered in 1999. The domain name owner has lawyered up with John Berryhill. 3. 33 of the best new websites - Some people appreciated the humor more than others. 4. GoDaddy vs. Uniregistry – the Great Debate - Upstart Uniregistry is increasingly competing with GoDaddy for domainers' portfolios. 5. ICANN survey: .Com still king, but new TLDs have a chance (especially outside U.S.) - An ICANN-commissioned study reveals that people outside the United States might be more receptive to new top level domain names.
